Resumen clinico para navegacion en espanol.
Beta blockers competitively block beta-adrenergic receptors, reducing the effects of adrenaline and noradrenaline. They lower heart rate and blood pressure, and reduce cardiac workload.
Used in hypertension, angina, heart failure, arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, SVT), post-myocardial infarction, migraine prophylaxis, anxiety, and thyrotoxicosis.
Do not stop abruptly — this can trigger rebound hypertension or angina. Monitor heart rate and blood pressure regularly.
